The Mother Road

Established in 1926 as one of the original highways in the US Highway System, this historic route stretches from Chicago to Santa Monica, connecting cities, towns, and communities along its path. In 2026, it will be 100 years since U.S. Route 66 was commissioned on November 11, 1926 as part of the United States’ first federal highway system. (Photo Credit: @WTFrenchie)

Colorado Boulevard's 150 Anniversary

In 2026, Colorado Boulevard will mark its 150th anniversary since the opening of a general store and post office in 1876 at its intersection with Fair Oaks Avenue. Throughout the mid-20th century, it functioned as a primary thoroughfare for travelers. Along this historic route, numerous landmarks stand, including the renowned Pasadena Playhouse, one of the oldest and most esteemed theaters in the nation, and the iconic Pasadena City Hall, a distinguished representation of Mediterranean Revival architecture.
