Part of what keeps Pasadena's community so strong are the efforts made by volunteers to help better and improve the lives of those in need. Your group will feel fulfilled knowing they have made a difference in the world while also lifting spirits and boosting camaraderie. Below is a list of local philanthropic team-building activities and volunteer organizations you and your team can assist.

Eaton Fire Relief

Groups can contribute to the well-being of the Pasadena and Altadena communities impacted by the Eaton Fire through the following organizations.


UNION STATION HOMELESS SERVICES

Union Station Homeless Services is supporting more than 2,000 individuals, outreach teams, and those affected. Through monetary and in-kind donations, they are providing necessary resources to support everyday life. Please reach out to Union Station In Kind Donations to see which items are in need.

The Pasadena Senior Center has established the Pasadena Senior Center Disaster Relief Fund for those impacted. Support their fundraiser or organize a supply drive at your next event to help serve the seniors in the community

The Pasadena Humane Society is a community-supported animal resource center. Groups can create fundraisers to support animals affected. There is also an option for groups to help make pet's stay more comfortable by crafting toys or beds.

The Foothill Unity Center is a multi-service agency serving individuals and families to reach economic stability. Groups can support their efforts by hosting a supply drive or by creating a fundraiser.

Door of Hope provides shelter for families experiencing homelessness. Support their Eaton Fire Housing Assistance Program that will aid housing costs to low-income families impacted by the Eaton Fire.

Foothill Family provides comprehensive mental health care to the youth and families across the Greater Los Angeles region. Foothill Family’s therapists and counselors are currently supporting individuals and families navigating grief and trauma.

Friends In Deed

Friends In Deed is an interfaith organization serving Pasadena’s homeless and at-risk communities. Their programs and resources have had a tremendous impact on families impacted by the fire. Groups can support their efforts by making a monetary donation or in-kind donations.

The Pasadena Community Foundation establishes endowments for nonprofits in the Greater Pasadena-area (Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre). There are multiple ways groups can make a donation to their Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund.

Corporate Social Responsibility Opportunities

Create Welcome Home and Hygiene Kits

Union Station Homeless Services has two programs in place to assist people with kits filled with necessary items. The Welcome Home Kit Program helps people move in their new permanent housing. The Hygiene Kit Program provides people with products to maintain healthy hygiene. Any group can purchase items from the Welcome Home Kit List and the Hygiene Kit List and organize a day for group members to bond while creating the kits. Please email volunteer@unionstationhs.org to plan the generous delivery.

Donate your time

Friends In Deed provides supportive programs alleviating the effects of homelessness. Through their Food Pantry Program, they provide food assistance to low-income and no-income families in the greater Pasadena/Altadena area. If your group would like to volunteer in the Food Pantry or learn how to help, please contact the Food Pantry Director, Tim Nistler, by email at timn@friendsindeedpas.org.

The Women’s Room (TWR) is the only program in the San Gabriel Valley dedicated to serving women who are alone and homeless or at risk of homelessness. The program includes supportive services and basic needs: a shower, laundry and healthy food. In addition, women enjoy access to computers and telephones, a place to nap, arts and crafts, fresh clothing, and more. Donate Housewarming Gifts

Door of Hope assists families transition from homelessness into new homes and need help providing families with essential housewarming gifts. Create a friendly competition for the team to gather as many home goods as possible to donate. For details, please email volunteer@doorofhope.us.

Shop for Foothill Family

Foothill Family improves youth and family development through mental health care, early childhood and social services programs. Take the team for an adventure to Southern California's largest and oldest independent bookstore, Vroman's Bookstore for a day of bonding and shopping through their selection of books, gifts, and more. Foothill Family is part of the Vroman's Gives Back program, where 1% of your group's purchases will be donated to the organization at no extra cost. Find more ways to give at foothillfamily.org.

Fight Hunger

Foothill Unity Center leads the fight against hunger and poverty in the San Gabriel Valley. They distribute food to those in need several times per week, your team's help would be greatly appreciated. Take the team out for a day of food sorting, packing boxes, distributing food, and more with Foothill Unity. Please contact volunteer@foothillunitycenter.org for more information.

Build a home

Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit that provides affordable housing in 70 countries. Through the San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity organization, groups of any size can volunteer and make an impact on the local community.
