Kwame Brathwaite: Things Well Worth Waiting For

  • Saturday, Jun 29th, 2024 to Saturday, Aug 17th, 2024

ArtCenter College of Design is proud to announce the exhibition Kwame Brathwaite: Things Well Worth Waiting For. This major solo exhibition—the first in Southern California since Brathwaite’s death in April 2023, features approximately 50 of the artist’s color and black-and-white photographs from the 1960s through the 1970s.

The exhibition also reintroduces the prescient artist behind the iconic "Black is Beautiful" slogan. Kwame Brathwaite's powerful and visionary work, which gained prominence during the Civil Rights, Black Arts, and Black Power movements, continues to resonate profoundly in today's context.
