Afters Ice Cream first opened in 2014 with their signature Milky Bun. There are nine Afters shops throughout Southern California, although the Pasadena location might be the most interesting space. It is housed in a former gas station on Green Street with vintage pumps where the originals would have been placed. A photogenic catchphrase on an opposite wall reads, "Less Talk, More Ice Cream."
Milky Bun
While they serve scoops and cones, the milky bun is what it's all about here. Glazed (or unglazed) raised donuts are hole-free, sliced, and filled with ice creams like bright blue Cookie Monster folded with crushed cookies, jasmine milk tea, and churro. Add toppings like Fruity Pebbles, chocolate syrup, or mocha. They press the milky bun, creating a hot donut coat that contrasts with a cool ice cream filling.
