Regional Recommendations

When you visit us in sunny Southern California, you may want to include some of our favorite neighbors in your itinerary.

Balboa Park
San Diego, California

Why we love Balboa Park

At 130 miles, Balboa Park is about 2 hours from Pasadena.

Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner route connects nearby Los Angeles, Glendale or Burbank with San Diego.

Much like the city of Pasadena, Balboa Park has a high concentration of world class art and architecture as well as the nation's largest urban cultural park, home to 15 major museums, performing arts venues, gardens and the San Diego Zoo.

Pasadena’s prestigious Caltech campus and Balboa Park were both originally planned by the architect Bertram Goodhue featuring his signature Spanish Baroque style.

Similar to artpass Pasadena, Balboa Park offers a Passport to Balboa Park a multi-attraction ticket to 13 museums for a savings of more than 50%.

Ventura, California

Why we love Ventura, California

When you tire of the backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountain range at dawn or sunset and you yearn for ocean breezes, Ventura is just over an hour away by car.

If you don’t want to drive, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner route connects nearby Los Angeles, Glendale or Burbank to within walking distance of downtown Ventura.
